Whether you've played in our charity tournament before or this is your first year,
this year's event promises to be the best one yet!

Seven years ago, we set out to to raise money for Cook Children's NICU, in honor of Avery Wooley, the place that saved her life and has allowed her to grow into the incredible 8-year-old she is today.
Avery was born three and half months early and spent 234 days in the NICU, eventually coming home on oxygen and with a feeding tube. Despite developmental diagnoses such as ADHD, autism and global development delays, she's thriving, thanks to the incredible care she received at

Cook Children's.

Since that first year, we've grown the Summer Scorcher to an annual tennis charity event with participation from the entire greater Fort Worth community and we continue to add new features and ways to give back each year.
This year, with our new location, we're not only on track to break the $100,000 mark in proceeds raised but it's shaping up to be
the most interactive, activity packed tournament yet!

We promise you . . . this is the year you DON'T want to miss!

Avery's NICU Journey

Want to learn more about Avery's journey?

Kelly Wooley, Avery's mom and a Cook Children's employee at the time, blogged for Cook Children's throughout Avery's entire stay.

We want to give a special shoutout to
McLeland Tennis Center, this year's tournament host!

McLeland is one of Fort Worth's oldest tennis facilities, built in the 1960's, and underwent a large renovation, including resurfacing all the courts, updating the pro shop and more in 2017. They have 14 outdoor courts and 2 indoor courts with programs, drills and private lessons for all ages and levels.

We also want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our 2021 participants, sponsors and donors!

Thanks to you, we were able to break a new fundraising record for the Summer Scorcher of more than $30,000 for the 2021 tournament, making our grand total for six years almost $100,000 raised for Cook Children's NICU!
